Flex
Bark sheets are made from a polyurethane elastomer that is durable
and flexible so that the sheets can be easily wrapped around curved
surfaces.
Flex
Bark is simple to work with, depending on the bark, it can be
cut with either a pair of scissors, jig saw, or circular saw.
We
recommend using a combination of Sikaflex glue and screws to adhere
the bark to a solid substrate.
While
there are other methods, the easiest material to use to make a
trunk is a sonotube concrete form. Sono tubes can be bought in
a wide variety of diameters and provide a solid surface that the
bark can be glued and screwed into.
Yes.
The Fire Retardan t(FR) version bark is made from a different
material all together. It isn't a simple over coat that is applied
after the bark is made. If you need to know more information about
the physical properties for building code specifications you can
contact us for more info. Also, the FR version has slightly different physical
properties. It is about 20% heavier and while it is still pliable
enough to bend around a curved surface, it is a little more rigid
than the standard version.
We
recommend using a two component epoxy, Polygem, that we are able
to supply you with. When mixed, this product has a pot life between
15-30 minutes (depending on the environment) and has a working
texture similar to a soft clay/putty. View the video below for instructions.
Use
our bark estimator
chart to figure out approximately how many sheets you will
need. Keep in mind we only sell full sheets of bark.
